Job Posting - Chief Strategy Officer / Co-founder
About Us
Curina is a platform that fosters next-generation art collectors and celebrates next-generation artists. While the art scene has traditionally been seen as exclusive, intimidating and unwelcoming especially for those who are considering buying art for the first time, we are making art ownership easy and transparent through our art rental / rent-to-own service; think Rent the Runway for fine art. We are passionate about discovering, representing and empowering talented artists and connecting them to potential collectors (for both individual and business collectors). Curina currently has the largest portfolio for rental subscription with its partnership with art galleries and independent artists in New York.
Curina has raised $1M to date from renowned angel investors and enterprises. Curina was featured in WWD, House Beautiful, and Elle USA.
About The Role
As Curina enters its next phase of growth, we are looking for someone for the role of CSO / co-founder who can drive growth strategy development and execution. This person will be working side-by-side with the CEO not as an "employee" but as an "owner of the business." This means that this is not a 9-5 job but a 24/7 marathon.
As the owner of the business and board director, you will have an equal say in the company and will be rewarded a significant portion of equity compensation. With the seed-round funding completed, you will be joining at a significantly de-risked stage. It is important to note that this will be the first and only time we will recruit for this position.
You will be part of our journey in redefining art ownership and creating a cultural movement - posing questions to the norms long accepted in the art world and exploring the potential and business opportunity of art. If you get excited reading this job posting, then we strongly encourage you to apply.
What You’ll Do
In short, as a co-founder, you will be working together, side-by-side with the CEO to oversee and manage everything required to scale the business - in the short-term, to take the company to where it's ready for the Series A, and, in the long-run and more broadly, to create a billion-dollar company redefining the art landscape and cultural movement.
You'll be developing, executing, and managing strategies that align with the current trends of art, fashion, and pop-cultural phenomenons. You'll make small and big decisions about marketing, branding, operations/logistics, HR/recruiting, finances, etc. with the goal of rapidly growing the customer base, expanding nationwide, and scaling the business. You will also develop and manage relationships with customers, business clients, artists, galleries, investors, agencies and any key stakeholders that are important to the business.
We are looking for an independent thinker and a leader - so you are expected to bring your own ideas to the table and always think 10 steps ahead of the team. You are to envision a big picture (i.e. What will Curina look like 5 years from now?), define the goals, design the pathway to get to the goal, and motivate and drive the team to get there.
What We Value
Commitment
This is a full-time position based in NYC with flexibility to work remotely during COVID.
There will be a paid assessment for second-round candidates.
