I started making art in my early childhood, heavily influenced by the illustration work within the surf, skate and live music scenes of the 80’s and 90’s. As a young adult, I gravitated towards fine art through my exploration of less traditional media and application. After some years of working in abstraction, I’ve re-introduced representational imagery into my work. The goal is to join the worlds of abstraction and illustration to create a space in between where my work can continue to grow.
Inspired by the effect of sumi ink drops on paper, Sonomi creates clusters of circles and waves channeling symphonies of the universe. This way, she offers a point of contact to things bigger than ourselves like nature and spirituality - something we need to find oasis from nitty gritties of the daily grind.

Shyun's minimalism does the maximum in bringing out the intensity of shapes and colors. What seem like stable forms - rectangles, tubes, and lines - never sit quietly on the ground. Shyun tips these shapes on their corner, drops them over a shadow, and slices just a little of their edges like soft cheese, capturing the brief moment where the stability of geometry meets the imagination of our eyes.

JaeMe grew up amid the tumultuous 1970s in south central Los Angeles. Luckily, with excellent grades and scholarships, she attended UC Berkeley in 1981 for Fine Art, studying under the renowned ceramic innovator Peter Voulkos. Expressive and vulnerable, Molly’s paintings read like an unpredictably eloquent dream journal. A cloudy haze of bright colors are expertly synthesized to evoke memories of a time and place which feel familiar, though ultimately unknown. As a skilled colorist, Molly creates abstract moments of nostalgia and sentimentality. Molly’s pieces are made up of experiences, both lived and imagined. She is able to capture small moments and transfer them onto canvas.

She is aware of the precariousness of her own identity. This gives her permission to occupy, more comfortably and more productively, the liminal space that is what Ien Ang would call in-between-ness—for Ang, hybridity is a welcome respite from the boundaries that children of the diaspora are often confined within. The self-generated idealization of her far-away “foreign” childhood hometown is often glaring, and the hybrid woman finds herself at once escaping to and challenging her possibly-confabulated halcyon memories, the psychic remembrances of an apparent “motherland”. (One gazes at her homelands with weary lucidity and any illusory pane shatters.)
Christian Perdix is a German Postwar & Contemporary artist who was born in 1987.
As a self described mostly straight Asian male, Chunbum Park, also known as Chun, explores gender fluidity and his fictive femme expression through art. Varying in texture and level of abstraction, the feminine figures of his work drift in and out of otherworldly color palettes. The exaggerated anatomy of his work in shrinking yet sexualized poses subvert the pathways of dominance that the oppression of queer people, women, and poc have made. Chun believes that the vulnerability in beauty and self-expression takes greater courage.

If something were to capture the essence of an everlasting battle between Godzilla vs Megazord vs set to Tame Impala, it would be Andrew Chan’s work. His style is graphic and bold: like an indie comic dipped in encaustic wax, his artworks evoke nostalgia and pop culture references in a satirical take on consumerism.

Joe Piscopia builds 3D shapes with 2D mediums. Informed by strongly contrasted lighting, Joe’s gradations bring every object, concept, or pattern to life in abstract forms. Shapes and colors document moments of thought and emotion in Joe’s life. Starting with a thought, a bird, or a single word, he intuitively explores from there into a realm of soft geometry.
