Carin Kulb Dangot is a Brazilian painter and sculptor whose work crosses mediums and boundaries. She transitioned from food engineering to food design for film and TV. She now brings her love of mixing, melding and inventing new forms to the world of paint, color, volume and mass.
Nikki was a musician most of his life. In 2014, he decided to teach himself painting by diving in headfirst with the approach of learning by doing. Embracing the unknown and trusting his intuition, he has been producing many works both haunting and decorative.
Sophie Kahn earned a BA Fine Art/Art History at Goldsmiths, London and an MFA in Art and Technology at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has exhibited in New York, LA, Washington DC, London, Paris, Torino, Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, and Beijing. She has taught at Pratt Institute, and completed residencies at NARS, the Museum of Arts and Design, Pioneer Works and the Elizabeth Foundation. Kahn is a NYFA Digital and Electronic Arts Fellow.
Expressive and vulnerable, Molly’s paintings read like an unpredictably eloquent dream journal. A cloudy haze of bright colors are expertly synthesized to evoke memories of a time and place which feel familiar, though ultimately unknown. As a skilled colorist, Molly creates abstract moments of nostalgia and sentimentality. Molly’s pieces are made up of experiences, both lived and imagined. She is able to capture small moments and transfer them onto canvas.
Cora Jane Glasser is a third generation New Yorker. She holds a degree from Queens College and attended the Arts Students League. Glasser completed a commission for the production of permanent artwork onto architectural glass for a building in Queens, and created a monumental installation for a group exhibition. Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group shows nationally and internationally, and is held in private, corporate and municipal collections. Glasser works from her studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Lauren Packard is a queer abstract mixed media artist living in Brooklyn. After undergoing brain surgery in 2014, she turned to paint to express what words couldn’t. Lauren considers her work an extension of her inner thoughts and dialogue, both conscious and subconscious. Lauren’s work explores and abstracts ideas and memories of queer identity, domesticity, repair, and dissonance through the use of materials and intuitive marks.
Roberto Alejandro Godinez is a Mexican artist born in San Francisco, based out of Brooklyn. A third wave impressionist oil painter, his work is the product of a life of artistry and creation. The motifs of his heavily textured and vibrant paintings are memories and emotions. He captures the complexities of these feelings and celebrates their beauty on canvas. They are a documentation of his thoughts, as well as a reflection of the healing that takes place during their creation.
Born in 1984, Linden spent her youth in the urban Sonoran desert of Phoenix, Arizona before moving to Southern California to obtain her BA in Studio Art. She's since lived and worked across Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Linden's work has been published and exhibited internationally. She has participated in residencies at La Filature des Calquières (France), Tiapapata Art Centre (Samoa), Cowwarr Art Space (Australia), and Tenjinyama Art Studio (Japan). She currently lives in Mount Holly, Vermont.
My work develops from the physical process of painting. Compositions are not planned or created, but found; they emerge somewhere along the way. To me ,what matters, is the act of painting itself. Having no concept in mind frees me from rules, elements of style and formal techniques. Usually I start a new canvas with gestural mark making or shapes. Using brushes, palette knifes and rags the oil paint is applied thickly, building layers. One mark here leads to another over there. I work on more than one piece and so a conversation between the them begins. What I do on one canvas has an influence on the other and vice versa. A unique aspect of my painting process is the fact that I have trained myself only to use my left hand although I’m right handed. I’m using the left side right brain connection which is all about imagination and not controlling anything. My artwork is a way to express what I cannot say with words.
Evan works from his studio in East Williamsburg, the back wall neatly lined with tools and the slightly sour smell of wood in the air. Considering his sculpture and design background, his command of unusual materials like soot residue, concrete, and spray doesn’t come as a surprise. But you may be surprised when his minimal, even digital looking, compositions start to unfold in poetic layers-- “bracing practice” indeed.
Christopher Blyth graduated from the Cooper Union in 1993 and has since exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Christopher maintains a studio in Harlem, NYC. Describing Christopher’s paintings in a New York Times review, Helen Harrison writes "His involvement is almost entirely with the work of art as an end in itself, a product of the artist's engagement with his materials and the visual and tactile effects they achieve."
Ken lives and works on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Born in Brooklyn 1947, Ken graduated from The Cooper Union (NYC) with a degree in Architecture. As an Assistant Professor, he previously taught studio art and architectural design at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY and at IIT, Chicago, IL. Before turning to painting his architectural practice spanned 2+ decades and in various locales.
Speaking of the subtle ways environment affects a painter’s color choices, Beth’s choices scream East Coast. From the thick of acrylic paint emerges Beth’s impression of landscapes, styles alternating between abstract waves and naturalistic scenery.
Sasha’s paintings are small but mighty. They sometimes look like fictional sculptures dropped onto the vacuum of vibrant color. Other times they’re like a clutter of found objects. In either case, disparate objects disappear in favor of a whole situation of motion and interaction, tinted with Sasha’s faith in the possibility of true harmony.
Max Manning is an artist and educator who currently lives and works in Houston, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Two Dimensional Studies from Bowling Green State University in 2011 and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati in 2014. Max has exhibited work nationally and internationally and is currently represented by TW Fine Art in Brisbane, Australia.
Taiss Ghuliani is a painter living and working in Brooklyn, New York. She explores the emotional and psychological qualities of the everyday spaces around her and is interested in the meditative potential of color. She earned a BFA from SUNY Purchase in May 2020.
Ryan Zogheb graduated from New York University in May 2022, earning his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts with a major in studio art, concentrating in painting and graphic design. Ryan lives and works out of his studio in East Village in New York City. Since graduating, Ryan has had his work featured in four gallery exhibitions and has most recently completed a residency at Carrie Able Gallery in Brooklyn, and at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
Ayane Kurai paints from the soul, rendering her subjects into soft abstraction. Painting is the most accurate form of her self expression. Marrying physical and mental she is able to emote with the world through her art. Ayane uses all senses available to her when working, combining all aspects of her subject to create a work that most accurately embodies everything about it.
